I’m Vickie Beatty, a 73-year-old retiree with a lifelong passion for horses and kindred spirits. My journey with PATH began in Palmdale when my son rode there, prompting me to volunteer once he outgrew that stage.
After a hip replacement got me back in the saddle as a rider, I continued sharing my love for horses. Later, when I retired to Inyokern with extra time, my husband spotted Candee’s THOR announcement, and I eagerly joined. I was warmly welcomed into a community dedicated to helping others through the joy of riding.
Although COVID disrupted THOR’s momentum, the organization quickly rebounded, and I resumed volunteering as best I could. For the past three years, PATH, via THOR, has enriched my life in Indian Wells Valley. I continue riding weekly, grateful for this enduring, fulfilling relationship.

We’ve been with Candee for nearly 19 years. Watching my daughter, Amanda, learn to ride with Candee inspired me to start riding too.
Candee taught us not just riding, but Gymkhana, Jumping, Showing, and Endurance, while also helping us care for an injured horse. She has an incredible gift for matching horses with riders — thanks to her, we found our forever horses, King and Jully.
Candee also taught Amanda how to train horses and give lessons, helping her grow and gain confidence. Candee is deeply passionate and knowledgeable about horses, always attentive to both riders and horses alike. She notices when we’re having an off day and offers guidance to build our skills and confidence. Candee cares deeply for every horse at her facility, keeping a close eye on their health and well-being. It’s a true family environment, and now she’s even teaching my grandkids. Candee truly makes horse dreams come true!

As a disabled combat veteran, my experiences at the Ranch have given me a sense of purpose and healing. My daughter’s lessons have also positively impacted her emotionally and physically. When our children were young, we began lessons with Candee Coffee, and our older kids thrived. But when our youngest was born with a rare genetic disorder and significant developmental delays, we were introduced to the THOR program.
At first, he couldn’t walk and needed three people to help him ride. Today, he runs and rides independently—something we never imagined possible. His transformation through THOR has been remarkable. Not only has his strength improved, but his outlook on life has completely changed. The support from the team at CnC Ranch has brought him confidence, joy, and a sense of freedom. This therapy has lifted our whole family—offering hope, healing, and moments we once thought were out of reach.
We are deeply thankful for the people and horses who make THOR possible. It has truly changed our lives in the most meaningful way.
